Having a home based business means having to be far more organized than ever.  You need to manage work and home, family and customers, errands and meetings.  It means there are likely going to be more  things demanding your attention.  To you they all seem important … and they probably are. 

BUT …

You can’t do everything and you certainly can’t do it all at the same time.  So what’s the solution?

Well, contrary to popular belief, the answer is structure.  You need to have a structure, a schedule or plan, as to how you are going to spend your day.

For instance, I usually get into my office about 8:00 in the morning.  I give myself until 9:00 to look at email and manage administrative details.

Beginning at 9:00, I focus on my clients and the work I need to get done for them.  I have a list of the tasks to do each day for each client and I stick to it.

I make it even easier on myself by making my last office task each day be making my list for the following day.  That way, when I get into my office in the morning, all I have to do is turn on my computer and go to work.

I don’t know about you, but I like easy.  And the easier the better.  Anytime I can find something that makes my job (and life) easier, I jump on it.  This kind of structure does that.  All tasks are scheduled so I know nothing is going to be forgotten, and since I’ve got a plan for getting the work done, I can relax into the work and be more efficient.  My mind is free from having to remember everything I have to do and I enjoy what I’m doing far more.

Having a home based business doesn’t mean you don’t work hard.  You do.  And it is work to get a new business started and then running smoothly.  But working hard doesn’t mean struggle.  That’s an option.  Create a structure for yourself and give it a chance to work for you.  You’ve heard, "The truth will set you free"?  Well, for Homepreneurs™, structure will set you free!
