Home Based Business – Feeling alone?
ByOne of the biggest challenges homepreneurs face is that we work by ourselves at home.
- No water cooler to hang around.
- No colleagues stopping by our offices or cubicles.
- No friends working nearby to join for lunch.
For all of us who like people, this can be a challenge. How do we connect with other people, when there’s no one here except our dog or cat? (Fish aren’t very social either. <g>)
For those of us who need social interaction, and I’m one of those, we need to find ways to make that happen. Some of the ways to do that, is to attend professional meetings or networking events. We can also pick up the phone and make time to visit with other homepreneurs over coffee or a meal.
Of course, that means changing out of our work-at-home clothes (sweats or jammies), but that’s a small price to pay for breaking the isolation.
Another way is to have buddies to call or people to interact with on a website. The danger to guard against is spending too much time socializing. It doesn’t work in any business, whether it’s your own or someone else’s.
